Flights

Flying into Denver (DIA)

If coming from out of state, flying into Denver is typically the most cost-efficient way to get to Vail. It's a beautiful ~2-hour drive by car and 3-3.5 hours by shuttle (traffic dependent, as the highway up the mountain is notorious for delays).

Renting a car is great if you want to explore the area, but there is no need for a car if you plan on sticking around the village.

Flying into Eagle County

The other great option is to fly directly into the local airport, Eagle County Regional Airport (EGE). This is just 40 minutes from Vail. From EGE, you can rent a car, take a shuttle, or rideshare. Note, rideshare availability tends to be extremely limited.

Getting Around Town

Vail consists of two villages: Vail Village and Lionshead Village. A free transportation system runs frequently throughout town making it easy to access almost everything by the town bus! The walk between Lionshead and Vail is only about 15 minutes (0.7 miles).

There are also free buses between West/East Vail to Vail Village for those staying in Vacation Rentals or Vail Racquet Club.
